We cordially invite you to the 18th annual Family Enterprise Research Conference (FERC), hosted by Oregon State University, to be held in Portland, Oregon. Established in 2005, FERC is dedicated to developing a community of global scholars interested in conducting research to further our understanding of family enterprises and creating usable knowledge in this field. FERC’s goals include:

       Building usable knowledge on family enterprises;

       Challenging scholars to enhance the rigor, relevance, and reach of research;

       Creating partnerships among and between scholars and practitioners focused on family business issues; and

Developing the field of family business scholars by providing professional development opportunities, especially for those early in their careers.

TWO types of submissions are invited for FERC 2024:

(1)         Poster Session Papers – a highly popular FERC staple! Submissions can be extended abstracts or full-length papers. A select number of full-length papers will be selected for presentation in a conference session on May 31st.

(2)         Doctoral Students & Junior Faculty Research Seminar – this exclusive seminar will include a paper development workshop and four, 90-minute research seminars lead by well-renowned scholars. A maximum of 12 individuals will be accepted.

Awards for best posters in the following categories doctoral student paper, qualitative paper, quantitative paper, and theoretical paper.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES - Either Extended Abstracts or Full-Length Manuscripts can be submitted.

All accepted extended abstracts and papers will be presented in poster format on June 1st.

 

(1)    EXTENDED ABSTRACTS - Poster Session Presentation (June 1st)

        Submissions accepted in English.

        Submissions using Microsoft Word are limited to five pages, excluding references and tables.

        Formatting requirements are: double-spaced pages with one-inch margins in 12-point font, using APA for references.

        Submitted paper abstracts must clearly identity and discuss the following 7 sections: 1) purpose of the project, 2) gap in the literature, 3) importance of addressing the gap, 4) manner in which this project addresses the gap in the literature, 5) methodology used in this research project (if appropriate), 6) summary of the results (if appropriate), and 7) implications of the findings for research and practice.

(2)    FULL LENGTH MANUSCRIPTS - Poster Session Presentation (June 1st) and Invited Paper Presentations (May 31st)

        Submissions accepted in English only (maximum of 35 pages all-inclusive).

        Full-length papers accepted for the conference and poster session presentation will also be considered for the paper development workshop. The most promising full-length manuscripts submitted to the conference will be invited to the paper development workshop. A limited number of papers/authors will be eligible to participate.

        Only papers that have not been accepted for publication elsewhere will be considered.

        The submitting author must be the primary author (not a second, third, etc.) of the paper and must be willing to provide developmental feedback for one other paper/author as part of this session.

        Please consider submitting the best paper that you are moving toward publication.

All submissions will be blind reviewed by members of the FERC 2024 Review Board.
