Annual Note from the Teaching Committee

by Diana M. Hechavarria, Ph.D.
November 2023

Each year, the Entrepreneurship Division Teaching Committee has the pleasure of selecting the winner for the Innovation in Entrepreneurship Pedagogy Award presented at the AOM’s annual meeting. Our aim is to do this through a fair and transparent process that relies on many accomplished and dedicated scholars from across the globe to provide ratings. The Teaching Committee is currently comprised of more than 10 scholars from North and South America, and Europe.

In addition to recognizing teaching excellence and impact, the committee considers new initiatives to support educators and promotes quality entrepreneurship teaching through our channels. Regular initiatives include sponsoring PDW sessions on topics that can enable and advance innovative pedagogy in entrepreneurship. We also summarize and promote award-winning and pedological innovations on the Division’s website and NewsBlast. Access to materials from past awards winners are linked on our website. Our goal is to provide access to innovative ways to teach entrepreneurship that are useful to our members by recognizing novel ways to approach entrepreneurship education. We are always on the lookout for new ideas and other ways to promote teaching excellence, so please send us your ideas.

We are also very interested in keeping the committee vibrant, devoted, and diverse, and therefore look forward to recruiting new members each year. Membership on the Teaching Committee involves a 3-year commitment. If you have an established record of teaching, a passion for pedagogy, and are interested in contributing to the Teaching Committee, please reach out to Jeff Pollack (diana.hechavarria@ttu.edu). Self-nominations are welcome!
