Co-Creating the Future of Entrepreneurial Scholarship

By Paul Sanchez-Ruiz

The Practitioner–Scholars Committee works to strengthen the connection between research and practice in entrepreneurship. Our purpose is to help ideas move from academic insight into the lived experiences of those who teach, lead, and build new ventures. This mission is grounded in collaboration, curiosity, and the shared belief that entrepreneuring happens when scholars and practitioners learn from one another.

As the new Chair, I am deeply grateful for the strong foundation built by this committee over the years. The commitment and generosity of past leaders and members have positioned us to grow in new and exciting ways. Looking ahead, we aim to cultivate new and enduring venues for scholarly–practitioner engagement, fostering reciprocal learning and the co-creation of knowledge. We want to help researchers, practitioners, and doctoral students to connect around shared interests, co-develop insights, and explore how knowledge can translate into meaningful action.

The committee is building new opportunities for collaboration and engagement. We are creating platforms where members can share research ideas, classroom innovations, and applied projects that reflect the realities of entrepreneurship today. These efforts are part of a broader commitment to nurturing a living bridge between theory and practice.

We are also growing our relationships with industry partners who bring valuable on-the-ground experience. Their involvement helps ensure that our research remains relevant and responsive to the challenges entrepreneurs face in real time. In turn, these collaborations create rich opportunities for doctoral students and early-career scholars to see how their ideas can shape and be shaped by practice.

The Practitioner–Scholars Committee represents a vibrant and growing community committed to advancing entrepreneurship through shared purpose and collaboration. We see entrepreneurship as a collective effort to understand and enable human progress.

I invite all who share this vision to connect with us. We want to exchange ideas, offer insights, and help strengthen the bridge between scholarship and practice. Together, we can continue building a community where entrepreneurship research and practice move forward hand in hand.
