Panel Symposium
2024 Academy of Management Annual Meeting
Tuesday, August 13th, 2024. 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM
Hyatt Regency, Toronto Room
We are excited to announce a re-examination of entrepreneurial intent by a panel of leading scholars. The panel symposium at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, co-sponsored by STR, ENT, and TIM, considers entrepreneurial intent through the lens of how motivations and goals drive entrepreneurial decision-making after venture creation.

Scope & Questions
Extensive literature addresses why individuals become entrepreneurs. This symposium takes the decision to enter into entrepreneurship as a given and re-introduces entrepreneurial intent (EI) to explain the entrepreneur's subsequent decision-making. How does EI provide a venture with an overarching purpose that directs resource and capability acquisition? How does EI provide a framework for evaluating venture success? How does EI facilitate the matching of stakeholders with a venture at inception? Each panelist will share their perspective on how EI shapes entrepreneurial decision-making and discussant Jay Barney will actively engage panelists and the audience in exploring the topic and probing boundary conditions.
We look forward to your participation!
