    Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to invite paper submissions for the track titled "Everyday Entrepreneurship in Developing Countries" for which we are the proponents at the 24th European Academy of Management (EURAM) Conference 2024, to be held in Bath (UK).

Entrepreneurship research has dominantly followed a "narrow perspective" (Welter et al., 2017) in defining what constitutes the phenomenon of entrepreneurship. Furthermore, the focus has largely been on Western contexts. Thus, scholars have called for a broader conceptualization of entrepreneurship to understand what represents most entrepreneurship in the world - "everyday entrepreneurship" (Welter et al., 2017). This track aims to enhance our understanding of everyday entrepreneurship in developing countries.

Given the importance of improving entrepreneurial activities in developing countries to enhance economic and social development, as well as to unveil the diversity of entrepreneurial activity, investigating this matter is of high practical and theoretical relevance. The goal of the track is to encourage scholarly discussion about how the characteristics of developing countries intertwine with everyday entrepreneurial activities. The list of possible research questions and themes in the topic includes, but is not limited to:

    • How do informal and formal institutions impact entrepreneurial activities in developing countries?
    • What is the relationship between informal and formal entrepreneurial activities?
    • When and how do entrepreneurs transit from the informal to the formal sector (or vice-versa), and what are the drivers?
    • How do entrepreneurial activities in developing countries improve the well-being of underprivileged people and their communities?
    • What are the roles of gender when it comes to entrepreneurial activities in developing countries?
    • How does technology (e.g. mobile, internet, and digitalization at large) affect everyday entrepreneurship in developing countries?
    • Can entrepreneurship improve the well-being of people during disasters? If so, how?
    • How do adversity and extreme conditions (e.g. war, crisis) influence the development of entrepreneurial activities
    • How could entrepreneurship help to overcome adverse and extreme conditions?
