    Posted 04-10-2023 12:17

    Dear colleagues,

We invite applicants to considering joining the Entrepreneurship Division for this year's Early Career Development Consortium (ECDC) during the Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Boston. We are currently planning on holding this in person only consortium on Friday (August 4th). However, the specific date/time is subject to change based on the Academy’s Scheduling.

We will have mentors with deep expertise in entrepreneurship as well as those who operate at the intersection of multiple fields. We are delighted to confirm the participation of a number of world-class scholars as mentors including: Violina Rindova, Matt Wood, Ben Hallen, Ute Stephan, Emily Pahnke, Rob Nason among others.

The consortium has two main components.

    1)     Main consortium session (9AM – 12 PM) on August 4th

    2)     Evening social (~5:30PM).

The Early Career Development Consortium (ECDC) is specifically designed to meet the needs of those scholars who are early in their career such as tenure-track assistant professors (pre-tenure packet submission). Once we accept participants into the program, we will solicit topics / questions that are top of mind among participants to maximize the customization of the program to your needs.

The format for the consortium is intimate and interactive (small group discussions, personalized Q&A, etc.), where we pair small groups of attendees with mentors. Leading entrepreneurship scholars (serving as mentors) will interact with participants, guiding the discussion that will include practical advice to help early-stage academics manage the pre-tenure phase of their career. The goal of this format is also to allow participants to ask specific questions, meet with and interact with individuals who are facing similar types of situations, and develop relationships with other participants that (we hope) will continue to be beneficial as they move through their career. Specific topics include: building a successful research pipeline, navigating the publication process, and developing a reputation within a given field.

The consortium is chaired by Trent Williams (Indiana University) and Magdalena Cholakova (Rotterdam School of Management).

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2023 AOM Entrepreneurship Early Career Consortium. To apply to the consortium, please complete the following survey. We are accepting these immediately and will continue receiving applications up to May 13, 2023.

If you have any questions, please contact Trent Williams (trenwill@iu.edu).

    Thank you!

    Trent Williams and Magdalena Cholakova
