We are excited to announce the “Minds at Work” PDW at the upcoming AOM Meeting in Chicago. This meeting is sponsored by the STR, ENT, MOC, and OMT Divisions.

The PDW will be held on Saturday, August 10, from 3:00-5:30 pm at the Sheraton Grand Chicago in Sheraton Ballroom II.

Cognitive representations are central to management and strategy. Over the past five decades, the field has curated an extensive list of constructs that describe cognitive representations at the individual, group, organization, and industry levels. Yet, the relationships between these constructs, and the differences in their formulations, definitions, and impact, are often obscure. This “proliferation without consolidation” limits our collective understanding of a critical phenomenon, but it may also suggest opportunities for productive research and synthesis.

This PDW is for any scholars working at the intersection of cognition and organizational management, strategy, and entrepreneurship. It consists of two parts. In the first part, a panel of senior scholars will discuss the state of the field. Their aim overall will be to consolidate existing theories, explore key constructs, and identify promising areas for future research. In the second half of the program, the panelists will be joined by five additional roundtable discussion leaders, who will lead individual participatory discussions with PDW participants on ongoing work and proposed projects.
