Aims and Scope
Crisis situations can bring numerous implications to people, organisations, and economies. Some crises impact the whole globe. For example, in December 2019, the coronavirus (COVID-19) started to spread from China to other countries so rapidly and intensely. It eventually declared as a pandemic. To protect lives and economies, countries imposed response strategies such as lockdowns, social distancing, and health practices. These unprecedented challenges caused major restructuring to the whole globe and the broad consequences remain unfolding. Entrepreneurs were not an exception. They had to face a new reality in doing business. A new reality that concerns the thrive of entrepreneurship amidst COVID-19 pandemic and its resurgence.
The academic community has started a dialogue of this relation – that of thriving entrepreneurship in crisis situations. Yet, it has only started to get explored (Ratten, 2020). On the negative side, Zahra (2021) understands that crises can make things worse fuelling serious concerns about entrepreneurial action. On the positive side, Liñán and Jaén (2020) argue that crisis situations for entrepreneurship will be generally damaging, but they may not so tremendously negative as originally thought. In this spirit, the special issue of the JBT aims to capture the likely consequences, responses and learning from crisis situations to entrepreneurial action to provide rich insights to the growing debate.
Possible Areas of Interests
The guest editors invite submissions of empirical and theoretical contributions examining the thrive of entrepreneurship in crisis situations. Possible areas of interests include, but not limited to:

This Special Issue is open to contributions from a variety of disciplines. We welcome rigorous theoretical and empirical research (e.g., using newly collected data or existing data from well-established sources) supporting entrepreneurial action in crisis situations, with an emphasis on the economic, societal and geographical relevance of research findings for scholars, practitioners and policy makers.
