Open Position: 2-year research assistant professor (i.e., postdoctoral-type role)

    Application deadline: March, 1st, 2019

    Description

The Department of Management, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (MIE) at North Carolina State University's Poole College of Management is looking to fill a 2-year research assistant professor position (i.e., postdoctoral-type role) for the academic years of 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. This opportunity is funded on a grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation with the goal of examining entrepreneurs' social network engagement and embeddedness. The person in this role will be focused on research and writing. There is no teaching expectation for this role. However, someone in this role could teach, if desired (for extra money) as an activity outside of the grant.

This research scholar position offers the opportunity to become engaged with a vibrant and productive faculty as well as gain experience in entrepreneurial endeavors through the NC State Entrepreneurship Clinic (https://entrepreneurshipclinic.ncsu.edu/). We seek applicants who have a strong desire to engage in theory-driven, high impact, research in the domain of entrepreneurship (social networks, specifically). This is a structured postdoctoral-type role with the aim of (a) developing new research projects in collaboration with MIE faculty and (b) embedding the scholar in an entrepreneurial community via the NC State Entrepreneurship Clinic to enhance research-focused success.

    Qualifications and Skill/Experiences Desired

    • Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate completed by summer 2018 (fewer than 5 years post-Ph.D. desired).

    • Quantitative, or qualitative, data analysis and project management skills ideally in the area of social networks (or related area) - knowledge of social network analysis in R or Python (or similar programming language) is preferred

    • Strong oral and written communication skills

    • Demonstrated experience preparing conference presentations, research findings, and manuscripts for submission to high-quality peer-reviewed journals

    Timeline
