    Why Trust Matters

The brand new Center for Trust Studies (CTS) in the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona will hold its inaugural panel discussion on January 29 at 9 a.m. MST.

Three distinguished panelists will start the session with brief presentations addressing the questions of why trust matters, how it can be produced, and what we still need to learn about it. The presentations will be followed by an interactive discussion with session participants. Registration is required (registration link below).

"Interest in the subject of trust has soared over the past two decades," says Oliver Schilke, associate professor of management and organizations in the Eller College and CTS director. "The insights we share around trust at this event will be both critical in and applicable to the business world where important financial, personnel and structural decisions requiring trustworthiness assessments are made every day."

    The event panelists include:

    • Andrew Swinand, founder and CEO Leo Burnett ad agency and former venture capitalist
    • Roger Mayer, professor of management, innovation and entrepreneurship in the Poole College of Management at North Carolina State University
    • Roy Lewicki, the Irving Abramowitz Memorial Professor Emeritus in the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University

Oliver Schilke will moderate the session. Supported by the National Science Foundation, CTS brings together students and faculty to share research insights from managers and policymakers, host a series of workshops on trust in organizations, develop a number of teaching tools about trust, and get students from a variety of diverse backgrounds actively engaged in academic research.
