The Academy of Management Entrepreneurship Division and Yeshiva University are delighted to introduce the winner of the Entrepreneurship Pedagogy Award for the year 2024:
Nikolaev Boris, Colorado State University
For their course entitled:
AI and Strategic Value Creation
Course Description:
The course teaches students how to leverage AI tools responsibly at different stages of the innovation process, from ideation and gathering customer insights to prototyping and go-to-market strategies. By using AI as a creative co-pilot, advanced data analyst, and rapid prototyping tool, students learn to drive innovation and solve complex problems efficiently in the age of AI. The overwhelmingly positive response from students, faculty, and executives and the potential for seamless integration of AI tools demonstrate the significant impact and transferability of this
entrepreneurship pedagogy innovation.
This class and its supporting materials and pedagogies were developed to deliver the following learning objectives:
- Understanding AI Integration: Students will learn how to integrate generative AI tools into various stages of the innovation process, from ideation to go-to-market strategies.
- Practical Application of AI: Students will develop practical skills by using AI tools for tasks such as customer insight gathering, advanced data analysis, and rapid prototyping, preparing them for real-world applications.
- Ethical AI Usage: The course emphasizes the ethical and responsible use of AI, preparing students to navigate the social and ethical implications of AI in business.
These objectives focus on equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to leverage AI for strategic value creation while ensuring they are prepared to address the ethical challenges associated with AI technology.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award and want thank all of my students, colleagues, and the ENT division for their support.
As educators, we face the same profound questions that challenge our students: What does the invention of tools such as ChatGPT mean for us—our lives, jobs, hopes and aspirations? I believe we have a responsibility to help students navigate these transformative AI technologies—help them understand their capabilities, limitations, and potential applications. If not us, then who?
The course I developed focuses on using AI tools across every stage of the innovation process—from gathering customer insights and ideation to design and go-to-market strategies. In class, students used AI as a personalized tutor, creative co-pilot, and data analysis tool; they used AI tools to collect synthetic data, design new products, and even build their MVPs.
While this award is deeply meaningful to me personally, I also hope that it will inspire other educators to use AI as a pedagogical tool. As a community, I believe that now, more than ever, we need to be entrepreneurial and embrace the uncertainty, challenges, and opportunities that come with it.”– Boris Nikolaev
