    We are recruiting for a two-year post-doc position in Entrepreneurship at ESSEC Business School in Paris, on "Leveraging French Public Registry Data to Advance Research on Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Public Policy". Please find all information below!

    Project Background

    This project aims to mobilize French public registry data (via CASD secure access) to advance research on entrepreneurship, innovation ecosystems, and industrial policy. Building on ongoing faculty collaborations at ESSEC Business School, the project will address questions including (i) how employee entrepreneurship emerges and is supported by parent firms; (ii) impact of different relational types between entrepreneurial firms and employees and their impact on performance; and (iii) how large-scale public policies (e.g., France 2030) influence the creation and growth of deep tech and industrial startups. A cross-cutting objective is to establish scalable data infrastructures and methodologies that enable broader use of public registry data among ESSEC faculty.

    Responsibilities

    This postdoctoral position offers the opportunity to work together with a multidisciplinary team of ESSEC faculty, all working on topics that involve the use of French business statistics.

    The position is structured around a 40/40/20 allocation of time.

    • 40% will be reserved for the Fellow's own research agenda and publications

    • 20% will be dedicated to contributing to the academic community of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, notably through the organization of internal research seminars and conferences, liaising with faculty and doctoral students, and other collective research activities.

    • The remaining 40% will be devoted to direct support to faculty projects involving  (including those led by Ha Hoang, Laurent Bach and Jan Lepoutre, and Raffaele Conti) through data extraction, cleaning, and advanced analysis. The Fellow will also assist other faculty in exploring and utilizing public registry data for new research initiatives 

     

    Requirements 

    Essential Criteria:

    • Profile: You are an early-career scholar with a strong research orientation, intellectual curiosity and interest in working on different projects related to entrepreneurship.

    • Degree: You hold or are close to finishing a PhD in one of the related fields (entrepreneurship / strategy / economics / sociology / finance), and show a clear interest in questions at the nexus of entrepreneurship and economic policy.

    • Technical Skills: Proven competencies in rigorous data analysis (econometrics and statistics) and flexible in working in different statistical packages (R, Stata, Python).

    • Language Skills: Professional proficiency in English (both written and spoken) and at least working knowledge of French.

    • Salary: Gross monthly salary between € 2800 and € 3200, depending on the candidate's professional experience.

    6. Selection Process

    3. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview

    4. We will conduct a first round video-conferencing interview in the week of 20 July 2026, so candidates should be available between 20 and 24 July 2026.

    5. Shortlisted candidates are invited to (a physical or virtual) campus tour

    6. Final Decision: The recruitment committee will deliberate and will provide their final decision via email. All interviewed candidates will receive personalized feedback within 1 week after the interviews.
