Please join us Saturday, August 1st at 3:00 PM for the Entrepreneurship and Men's Issues PDW.
PDW Summary: Inspired by Richard Reeves' book Of Boys and Men, the purpose of this PDW is to introduce, discuss, and delineate a research stream on entrepreneurship and men's issues-crises facing men driven by systemic social and economic shifts (Reeves, 2022). While entrepreneurship and gender research has flourished in recent decades, it has focused almost entirely on women's experience, understandably so, given how clearly and persistently women have faced disadvantage in entrepreneurship. Yet a growing body of evidence suggests that men, particularly those without college degrees, in rural areas, or in declining industries, are now also encountering their own structural disadvantages, from widening education gaps to disappearing traditionally male-dominated jobs to rising rates of "deaths of despair." This PDW explores whether and how entrepreneurship reflects, and might help remediate, these challenges. Through a moderated discussion with three leading entrepreneurship journal editors, we'll work toward a research agenda for this emerging area before opening the floor for Q&A.
