The Department of Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Venture Innovation (SEVI) in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas seeks applications from interested candidates for a tenure-track open rank faculty position in strategy, entrepreneurship or innovation. The expected start date for the positions is August 2024. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. (or expect to complete their Ph.D. by August 15, 2023) in management or a related discipline from an AACSB (or equivalent) accredited university.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who possess strong research records or who have demonstrated the potential to publish in top-tier journals, and who have demonstrated the ability to provide an excellent learning environment in the classroom and value collegiality. Preferred candidates have demonstrated ability to publish research in corporate innovation and have an interest in teaching innovation on the graduate and undergraduate level.
The SEVI Department is comprised of faculty focusing their research in the broad areas of strategy and entrepreneurship. The tenured and tenure-track faculty include: Michael Cummings, Alan Ellstrand, Jake Grandy, Jon Johnson, Oleg Petrenko, Jason Ridge, Dan Worrell, and Shannon Younger. Our faculty have consistently published in top journals including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Journal of Management, in addition to several other top outlets. Further, the department placed 15th in management department productivity per faculty in the 2022 TAMUGA rankings. In addition, our faculty have received best paper awards from journals and conferences, serve in editorial positions of numerous top journals, and hold leadership positions in the Academy of Management. We also have a strong doctoral program with our students being placed in Research I universities. The Walton College offers faculty a competitive teaching load and a very supportive environment for conducting research targeted at top tier journals.
The Sam M. Walton College of Business, founded at the University of Arkansas in 1926 and accredited by AACSB International since 1931, has been ranked as a top 30 public business school for 15 years in a row by U.S. News & World Report. U.S. News currently ranks Walton College 28th. Four Walton College graduates serve as CEOs of Fortune 500 companies and nearly 30 Walton alumni occupy executive offices at Fortune 500 companies.
