Assistant or Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship
The University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Business is inviting applications for a tenure track position in Entrepreneurship at either the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. The University of Alabama is the state's flagship campus in the University of Alabama system. The University's overall research enterprise is currently the fastest-growing of all 14 universities in the Southeastern Conference and ninth in the nation. The University and the Culverhouse College of Business have made enhancing our academic capabilities in Entrepreneurship a strategic priority.
We are seeking a colleague whose primary research area is Entrepreneurship. We are open to any of a broad range of specialties within Entrepreneurship. The successful applicant will have an established record of research and teaching in entrepreneurship or evidence of the potential to build such a record. Our new colleague will join a diverse team of entrepreneurship scholars, including Craig Armstrong, Paul Drnevich, Vishal Gupta, Will Jackson, Lou Marino, Jeffrey Martin, and Theresa Welbourne. Our Entrepreneurship program offers Doctoral, MBA, and undergraduate classes and is housed in the Management Department. The department also founded and hosts the annual Southeast Entrepreneurship Research Conference, a developmental conference intended for faculty and doctoral students from leading schools throughout the Southeast.
The Entrepreneurship program at the Culverhouse College of Business is linked with the Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute (AEI). AEI is the hub of the campus' vibrant start-up and innovation ecosystem. It is located at The Edge, the University's incubator AEI's work goes beyond the start-up stage to help new and established enterprises succeed through successful entrepreneurial growth management. AEI's portfolio of projects includes initiatives such as the annual business plan competition (with $100k in prizes, including a $50k grand prize), pitch competitions, Startup Weekend, the faculty and staff new venture competition, and local business plan competitions, all providing potential for entrepreneurship research.
Minimum qualifications: 1) A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Entrepreneurship or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited Business School; (2) demonstrated potential for conducting high-quality research and publishing in top Management and Entrepreneurship journals; (3) demonstrated potential for high-quality teaching in Entrepreneurship.
Preferred qualifications: The successful candidate will have (1) a demonstrated record of publishing in the leading journals or evidence of the potential to build such a record, (2) a history of teaching courses in Entrepreneurship, and (3) the ability to work with faculty in one, or more, of our core research areas of Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, Human Resources, International Business, or Organizational Behavior. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and/or interest in mentoring and teaching doctoral students. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and achievements.
