Two Assistant Professor in Technology Entrepreneurship positions at the Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship, TU Delft, the Netherlands

    Job description

The Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship, in the faculty of Technology, Policy and Management of the Delft University of Technology, invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Digital Technology Entrepreneurship and in Sustainable Technology Entrepreneurship, beginning Fall 2022.

As an Assistant Professor in Technology Entrepreneurship, you are expected to teach several courses per year for engineering students across the faculties of TU Delft and continuously develop and improve our curriculum. Your programmes and subjects help students hone their entrepreneurial skills, such as identifying opportunities, develop business models, and devise market entry strategies. The two positions have a distinct focus on either digital technology enabled entrepreneurship or sustainable technology oriented entrepreneurship. Teaching primarily involves coaching students working on challenge-based projects. And subjects range from entrepreneurial thinking within established organizations and acting to founding a start-up. And in addition, you will conduct firm-level research into best practices of firms, their technology to market journey and translate these into educational and didactic methods, to ensure a state-of-art embeddedness of digital or sustainable technology driven entrepreneurship within academic education.

With our practice-driven education, you will approach businesses and build a network in multiple sectors. Speaking with experts and identifying their challenges, you will take the lead in educational reform and further build the elective program on Digital Technology Entrepreneurship or on Sustainable Technology Entrepreneurship. The program intends to educate engineers who will contribute to firms' competitive edge and meet emerging client needs. The implementation of the latest technologies either in digital, circular, sustianable, or platform technology is crucial. Examples are robotics, computer sciences, new energy technologies, end-of-life solutions, which will enable new opportunities for business or require to transform existing buseinsses. It is up to future entrepreneurial engineers and decision-makers not only to implement these technologies but also anticipate the related organizational and market changes. Of course, developing such educational programs is a learning curve, which we will help you develop your career. Our twelve-strong team of teachers and researchers at Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship will give you every support for you to evolve. We share a drive to optimise education, helping our students to implement technological changes in an entrepreneurial environment. For this, you will have our extensive entrepreneurial ecosystem at your disposal. The ecosystem includes TU Delft faculties and leading tech incubators and field labs, such as YES!DELFT, TheGreenVillage and RoboHouse.

    Requirements

You thrive on working in an academic environment and are highly motivated to take the lead in enhancing our educational standards. In addition, you thoroughly enjoy teaching, coaching and interacting with students. You are driven by instilling firm-level entrepreneurial skills in students with an in-depth knowledge of digital technologies. You are also highly motivated to conduct firm-level research, for which you put your networking and communication skills to good use.

    You also have:

    • A PhD in Entrepreneurship, Business and Management or another relevant subject.
    • Demonstrable experience as a university teacher.
    • A track record of publications in entrepreneurship journals.
    • Knowledge of and a keen interest in digital technology, in which your students are, after all, the experts.
    • Excellent command of English.
