MOC Best Paper Awards in Entrepreneurial Cognition

Call for Papers, Deadline: May 31 2026

    Saturday, Aug 1 2026 2:00PM - 4:00PM, at Loews in Commonwealth D

The 86th Annual Academy of Management Meeting

The Managerial and Organizational Cognition (MOC) division of the Academy of Management is pleased to call for nominations for the two annual awards for promising research on topics related to entrepreneurial cognition. The purpose of this award program is to identify innovative (still unpublished) research papers in entrepreneurial cognition, applied to the individual, team, or organizational levels of analysis. Papers that have direct practical implications are especially encouraged.

Best Faculty-led Paper in Entrepreneurial Cognition

This award is given to a faculty or practitioner (non-student) solo or primary author of the winning paper. Award (self-) nominations should be submitted to Raja Singaram, at raja.singaram@outlook.com by May 31st, 2026. Submissions should include "Best Faculty-led Paper in Entrepreneurial Cognition Nomination" in the subject line, attaching the original paper to be considered and the primary author's CV.

Best Student-led Paper in Entrepreneurial Cognition

This award is given to the student who is the sole or primary author of a paper. To be eligible for this award, an individual must still be a student (i.e., still enrolled at the institution where the student pursues graduate/doctoral work) at the time the paper is submitted.

Award (self-) nominations should be submitted to Sergei Mozheiko, Roskilde University, at mozheikosergei@hsu.edu.hk by May 31st, 2026. Submissions should include "Best Student-led Paper in Entrepreneurial Cognition Nomination" in the subject line, attaching the original paper to be considered and the primary author's CV.

A panel of judges will short-list up to 5 papers from each category. Shortlisted authors will be notified and requested to present the paper in person as a part of MOC's Entrepreneurial Cognition PDW at AOM 2026 in Philadelphia. The final award winner will be selected among the shortlisted during this event and will receive a best paper award plaque from AOM.

    Criteria & Paper Presentations

    •   The best paper will be selected by a panel based on the perceived importance of the topic to the study of entrepreneurial cognition, contribution to the existing literature, and relevance to practice.

    •   In order to be considered, the submitted paper cannot be In Press or published at the time of submission. Papers submitted separately for presentation at the AOM Meeting are eligible.

    •   One entry per author is permitted.

    •   Authors must be willing and able to present their paper physically at the AOM Meeting in Copenhagen.

    •   All materials must be submitted in English.

    General information on the

    Entrepreneurial Cognition PDW

    Saturday, Aug 1 2026 2:00PM - 4:00PM, at Loews in Commonwealth D, PA

Are you a doctoral student or faculty member fascinated by the cognitive feats inherent to entrepreneurial pursuits and looking for ways to connect with other like-minded researchers? The Entrepreneurial Cognition PDW is for you! Returning for a seventh consecutive year, the Entrepreneurial Cognition PDW will include two parts - a moderated panel discussion, and a series of Pecha Kucha-style paper presentations followed by a best paper award ceremony. From the submitted entries we will select the 10 papers (5 faculty-led, 5 student-led) to be presented in part 2. A best paper plaque will be presented to the best student-led and faculty-led papers, respectively. This year, we again plan for this to be an exciting PDW with a lively, interactive, and developmental atmosphere.
