    Lecturer in Management

     

    The Management Department at Appalachian State University invites applications for a non-tenure track, nine-month Lecturer faculty position beginning Fall of 2024. The position will primarily serve Appalachian State's main campus in Boone, NC.

     

    The Lecturer will teach four (4) management classes per semester and is encouraged to engage and develop relationships with the business community. Primary teaching duties will be in-person courses and holding office hours on the Boone campus. Teaching duties may also include online and/or hybrid courses, or in-person courses in Hickory, NC.

     

    The department is especially interested in candidates with professional experience and teaching interest in Systems Thinking, International Management, Strategic Management, and Entrepreneurship. Additional possible teaching needs include courses in Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Ethics/Diversity/Inclusion, and/or Leadership.

     

    About the Department & Walker College of Business

     

    We are a vibrant community of teachers, scholars, and professional practitioners that are passionate about developing the next generation of business leaders. Our faculty have studied at the best universities in the world, have led global enterprises, and are successful entrepreneurs. The department offers two undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree programs: the major in management (MGT) and the major in hospitality and tourism management (HOS). The department also offers, for both business and non-business majors, minors in innovation & entrepreneurship, human resource management, and sustainable business. At the graduate level, the Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Human Resource Management Program (IOHRM) is an interdisciplinary and award-winning Master of Arts degree program offered jointly by the Department of Management and Department of Psychology. Also, management faculty provide instruction in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program offered by the Walker College of Business.

     

    The Walker College is an AACSB-accredited business school, and in 2019 was featured in The Princeton Review's edition of Best Business Schools. The Department of Management is the largest department within the Walker College of Business, which itself has the largest business school enrollment in the 17-campus UNC system (approximately 3,000 students).

    Qualifications

     

    A Master's Degree in Business or a closely related discipline is required. If the Master's degree is in an area other than business, candidates must have received at least 18 credit hours in the discipline in which they would teach. Additionally, 5+ years of relevant industry experience is preferred.

     

    Official transcripts of all graduate level work, although not required with the application, will be required prior to appointment.

     

    Salary Range

     

    $52,000 - $57,000
