Starting a business is a transition for anyone, but poverty conditions can complicate the transition. In moving from employment or unemployment to business ownership, the person must not only learn new and often unfamiliar roles, but the running of a business involves a different logic. New skills must be mastered.  Further, it can require changes in attitudes, perceptions, beliefs, norms, values, expectations, and behaviors. It is also a transition where the individual frequently continues employment while running a venture. All of this can introduce significant conflict, stress and resistance. In this webinar, we will explore transition processes and some of the challenges confronted and approaches relied upon in attempting to navigate the movement to becoming an entrepreneur.

The webinar will feature perspectives from five distinguished scholars:
    • Lukman Raimi, Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (Brunei)
