Dear colleagues,
Last year we piloted something unusual between Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (China) and Oxford University (UK): a founder-to-founder format I developed called the Global Entrepreneurial Clash.
Rather than organizing a traditional pitch competition, the Clash creates an arena where entrepreneurial teams from different countries test how their ideas land across cultures. The focus is not judging, but understanding how entrepreneurial ideas are perceived across different ecosystems.
During the inaugural China–UK edition, teams quickly discovered that ideas that feel compelling in one context may be interpreted very differently elsewhere. The exchange generated a number of interesting insights around clarity of value proposition, cultural fit, user perception, and global scalability assumptions.
We are currently preparing the second edition of the Clash.
Unlike large startup competitions, the initiative operates on a curated model, bringing together a small number of founder teams from two countries in a structured exchange designed to maximize cross-cultural entrepreneurial insight.
As we explore future editions, I would be very glad to connect with entrepreneurship educators interested in exposing their strongest teams to this type of international founder-to-founder exchange.
Colleagues interested in future editions are very welcome to reach out via DM or email. I am gradually building a small network of universities interested in participating in future Clash editions.
Best regards,
Dr. Victor (Vik) Pérez
