    Research Policy Special Issue: "Outside In: Unconventional Pathways to Innovation"
    Do breakthroughs always come from the usual suspects, the usual places, and the usual playbook? This special issue invites work that flips the lens and explores outside-in innovation. Think unexpected actors, unconventional routes, and novel geographies shaping how innovation happens.
     
    Submission deadline: 15 July 2026 (Midnight GMT)
    Submission opens: 1 June 2026

    Authors invited to Revise & Resubmit (after round 1 or 2) will be invited to an additional Paper Development Workshop (PDW) (expected July 2027) to strengthen the coherence of the Special Issue.
