    Dear Colleagues,
We're pleased to advise that Dr Mahmoud Moussa and Professor Adela McMurray at Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia have secured a contract with Emerald to publish "The Emerald Handbook of Human Resource Management (HRM) in the Era of Artificial Intelligence" to be released in February 2027.
The Emerald handbook of Human Resource Management (HRM) in the Era of Artificial Intelligence offers an integrative exploration of how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the core principles, ethics, and practices of human resource management. It tells the story of a profession in transition, from one historically centered on people management to one that must now reconcile technological intelligence with human intelligence. This handbook's central argument is that although AI has revolutionised recruitment, learning, analytics, and workforce planning, it has simultaneously raised critical and urgent questions about ethics, fairness, accountability, and human dignity.
This handbook bridges the gap by blending empirical research, conceptual frameworks, and practitioner insights. Structured around 36 chapters and seven interconnected themes, this handbook brings together distinguished international scholars and practitioners to examine the complex relationship between human principles and machine reasoning and decision-making. Hence, the handbook's goal is to provide a comprehensive, global, and research-informed reference that integrates theory, practice, and implications for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers seeking to navigate the human side of AI transformation and human resource management.
The Handbook is comprised of 36 chapters. Please express your interest in contributing to one of the remaining 19 chapters that are currently available. The attached document lists the title of each of the 19 available chapters.  If your expression of interest is accepted, you will receive Emerald's author guidelines, which include details on word count, referencing style, formatting, and other requirements.
    Important Dates:
15th of June 2026 submission of the first chapter draft.
15th of August 2026 revisions. Also: each author – team will be asked to review a chapter (Blind peer-review process will take place for each chapter).
If you would like to express your interest in one of the available chapters or have any queries, please don't hesitate to contact Dr Mahmoud Moussa at mahmoud.moussa@flinders.edu.au
We value your contribution to our handbook.
    Best wishes,
    Mahmoud & Adela
