    Baylor University Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship

The Department of Entrepreneurship and Corporate Innovation at Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business is now accepting applications for the Ph.D. Program in Entrepreneurship. The application deadline is January 15, 2026, for full consideration, and admitted students will begin their studies in Fall 2026.

Baylor's doctoral program builds on the university's longstanding tradition as a leader in entrepreneurship education and research. The program equips students with the skills to conduct rigorous, high-impact research that advances the field and prepares them for successful academic careers at leading universities. While the primary focus is on entrepreneurship, students also pursue a secondary area in strategic management.

Doctoral students work closely with faculty mentors to develop expertise in entrepreneurship scholarship and teaching, with a strong grounding in theory and research methodology. Students have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty on research projects and routinely coauthor publications with program faculty.

Program faculty include Peter Klein, John Chen, Stephen Zhang, Steve Bradley, Gabriella Cacciotti, David Scheaf, Justin Yan, and Sohvi Heaton. Their research has appeared in top journals such as Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Management, Strategic Management Journal, and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, among others listed on the Financial Times Top 50 journal list.

The program has an excellent placement record, with graduates securing tenure-track positions in entrepreneurship and management departments. Please click here for details on recent placements.

The Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship is a full-time, four-year residency program that provides tuition remission, a competitive annual stipend, and financial support for attending major academic conferences in entrepreneurship and management.
