  • 1.  Entrepreneurship Listserv Migration to AOM Connect Update

    Posted 01-16-2018 10:54

    Greetings,

I hope your New Year is off to a prosperous beginning.

I am writing to update you on the migration of the Entrepreneurship Listserv to AOM Connect. As part of its effort to have the entire Academy migrate to the AOM Connect Community platform, the Academy reached out to our division to be included in the initial wave of transition. Their plan was for active participation in each division community to be open only to active members of that specific division.  Those not affiliated with a division could view the content in the division's community but could not contribute to the discussions.

When this was announced on our listserv it became clear that the majority of our division members did not support this participation structure.  We brought the concerns voiced on the listserv and those voiced directly to members of the Communications Committee and to the division's leadership team to Academy. Kerry Ignatz and her team listened closely to our concerns. After several phone calls with her team and members our division leadership team in December, it was decided that Kerry and her team at AOM would caucus to consider how best to proceed.  The said they would update us after the New Year.

Last week we received an email from Kerry letting us know that based on feedback from our division they were going to change the policy and each division could independently decide who could actively participate in their division community.  The only caveat was that individuals who wished to participate in a community who were not active members of the specific division would have to complete a form to join and then be approved by the community administrators.  The forms would be designed by each community but would include common information that the Academy Office would like to gather.

Based on this information our division's leadership team decided that the Entrepreneurship Division would be open to anyone who wanted to join, regardless of their Academy affiliation.  Accordingly, we are working on the form that will need to be completed by those not formally affiliated with the Entrepreneurship Division who wish to actively participate in the division's Connect community after the transition takes place. The form will be accessible by the time AOM Connect is launched by the end of this month.

Thank you to everyone who shared their concerns, especially to John Bunch who started the original Listserv and the conversation regarding who could actively participate in the new community.  Thank you also to Kerry Ignatz and her team at the Academy office for being responsive to our concerns and to our leadership team for hearing and acting on the wishes of our division.

More information coming soon regarding the transition which is scheduled to take place prior to the end of this month.  If you have any additional questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

      Your humble servant,

    Lou Marino

I'm quite relieved that Big Brother (Big Sibling?) relented. So well done, Lou!!!

Maybe we can craft a form that actually doubles as a recruiting tool for non-Div folks?
