Full-time Lecturer in Business and Entrepreneurship

Conrad Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology Centre, Faculty of Engineering, University of Waterloo

The Conrad Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology Centre (Conrad) at the University of Waterloo invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in Business and Entrepreneurship, starting July 1, 2018. The position is focused on providing leadership to a foundational undergraduate online course and its ongoing development, as well as in-person social enterprise courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and other teaching duties as assigned. This position involves significant service and leadership of community building activities. Candidates with a PhD in Entrepreneurship, Innovation Management, Strategy, General Management, Social Enterprise or a related cognate discipline, along with relevant industry experience will be considered. Candidates with Masters degrees may be considered where their experience and skill profiles are deemed to merit such consideration. Formal training and experience in education and pedagogy is a significant asset. Comfort in teaching students with a technical orientation would be a significant asset, and those with successful entrepreneurial, consulting, or senior managerial work experience outside the academy will be viewed especially favorably.

We seek individuals who have demonstrated a passion for teaching and coaching students, as well as an entrepreneurial drive and strong organizational abilities. This position will normally have a teaching load of six one-term courses per year and administrative and scholarly duties as determined by the Director of the Conrad Centre, principally coaching undergraduate student entrepreneurs, organizing and hosting a large cross-campus social entrepreneurship competition and related activities, and more generally participating in the facilitation of the student entrepreneurship community at UW. Teaching tasks will be assigned in all three academic terms, and working on-site most days is required. An entrepreneurial outlook and interest in active engagement with colleagues and students in the growth and life of Conrad are essential. We seek candidates who will further reinforce Conrad's positive, supportive, proactive, can-do culture.

The salary range for this position at the rank of Lecturer is $85,000.00 to $130,000.00. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.

This appointment will be for a 3-year definite term. Reappointment at the end of the term is possible. An eventual appointment as a continuing lecturer is possible after six years in definite term appointments. Salary range and rank will be commensurate with experience and track record.
