I am developing an undergraduate course in Economic Development that will focus on working with governments and public-sector institutions to design and implement strategies for economic growth to unlock business opportunities. If you have a syllabus, a textbook and or simulations/tools that you use, kindly share with me.

Would you be interested in a multinational economic game whereby players set fiscal, monetary, and trade policies that may help or hinder economic development? After downloading and installing the demo, register. Then follow the red advisory and enter bids for all consumer products (Action >> Consume Products ... >> Maximum Bidding Price >> Submit Bid). This activates your life in the game. Then select Action >> Review and Propose Policy, to submit your proposals for monetary and fiscal policies.

Trade policies are grayed out in the demo, but can be activated for your students if you wish. For the demo, players "vote" for trade policies by migrating (Action >> Emigrate). The game selects policies for execution by a clustering algorithm that simulates democracy.

Underlying principles of the game:

1.      Extending life is the most important goal of life.

2.      Life is extended by consumption.

3.      Consumption depends on economic welfare moderated by markets.

4.      Economic welfare depends on production moderated by transfer payments.

5.      Production depends on entrepreneurship.
