POSTDOC OPPORTUNITY – QUT, AUSTRALIA
Get a head start in your academic career! The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research Cluster (EIC) at Queensland University of Technology, Australia, is offering the opportunity to spend 12- 24 months as salaried Postdoc at our school.
This is one of nine Postdoctoral Research Fellowships being offered by the Faculty of Business. This position will be filled by a young researcher with a completed Ph.D. (before the end of 2009), who aspires to contribute to the international research frontier in entrepreneurship and/or innovation, and who has already shown promise of such ability. Very limited teaching will be expected.
EIC (http://www.bus.qut.edu.au/research/acbr/eirp/) is rapidly making progress towards reaching its ambitious goal of establishing itself in the international elite in entrepreneurship research. We currently have a group of approximately 30 Faculty and PhD researchers and substantial research funding. The following recent achievements reflect the vibrant nature of our entrepreneurship and research community:
· This year we had six papers by eight authors accepted to the Academy of Management Meeting and four papers by five different authors accepted to the highly competitive Babson Conference (BCERC).
· The EIC team has recently been awarded the largest business/economics Discovery Grant in the country by the Australian Research Council to conduct an Australian PSEDII type study and several other large research grants. Entrepreneurship & Innovation has also become one of five recognized research area with internal funding from the QUT Faculty of Business.
· Professor Per Davidsson, Assistant Dean, Research for the Faculty of Business, was elected to the executive of the Entrepreneurship Division of the <st1:placetype w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">Academy</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Management</st1:placename></st1:place></st1:placetype> in 2007, and is this year Program Chair of the scholarly program.
· We have had recent hits in journals like Strategic Management Journal; Journal of Business Venturing; Journal of Management Studies; Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice; <st1:placetype w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">Academy</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Management Learning</st1:placename></st1:place></st1:placetype> and Education; Small Business Economics; Journal of Business Ethics, and many others.
· In 2007 we hosted the regional BCERC equivalent, the AGSE Entrepreneurship Research Exchange.
· We have an increasing number of research students in entrepreneurship, and we regularly host visiting academics in this field.
· When QUTs MBA program made the Financial Times top 100 list in 2004 it was the first in <st1:state w:st="on">Queensland</st1:state> to ever do so, and only the third in <st1:country-region w:st="on"> <st1:place w:st="on">Australia</st1:place></st1:country-region>. The QUT Faculty of business was also the first in the country to achieve "Triple Crown Accreditation" (AACSB; AMBA; EQUIS).
We invite young and ambitious researchers to join this stimulating research environment for 12 to 24 months in 2010/11. The position would give the right candidate an excellent opportunity to both benefit from and contribute to this environment. The position is not tied to a particular project, although there are opportunities to engage in ongoing EIC projects. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to further develop their thesis (or other already on-going work) into published papers as well as becoming involved in new projects in collaboration with members of our staff. Initially positions would be offered for 12 months with the opportunity to extend each appointment for another 12 months if both parties agree.
The Post Doctoral salary is currently AUD $68,448 per annum (currently the AUD is approximately 0.8 USD). Costs of living in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Brisbane</st1:place></st1:city> are reasonable. Office, computer facilities and opportunities for conference travel will be provided.
