The College of Business Administration at Central Michigan University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track or tenured entrepreneurship faculty member at the assistant, associate, or full professor rank, beginning August of 2018 to teach courses in the entrepreneurship curriculum.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in entrepreneurship or related business field from an AACSB accredited institution (or other major national university) or a J.D. from an ABA accredited institution combined with significant work experience in entrepreneurship. For those pursuing a Ph.D., ABD applicants will also be considered if it is clear that the applicant's degree will be conferred at the time of appointment.
In addition to having the terminal degree, a successful candidate must: (i) have SA status under AACSB Standards; or (ii) be able to clearly articulate a viable plan to promptly obtaining SA status. CMU's guidelines for obtaining and maintaining SA status are found here. Must demonstrate evidence of effective teaching at the college or university level and an active research agenda. Ability and desire to mentor students in our award-winning New Venture Competition and provide service to our Entrepreneurship Institute are a must. For those seeking appointment at the advanced rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor, the applicant must demonstrate teaching excellence, intellectual contributions, and service that are commensurate with the rank desired. Outstanding candidates may be considered for tenure upon hire, as appropriate. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate has experience in the entrepreneurship ecosystem (experience with early-stage, high-potential, growth startups considered a "plus"). Also an established and ongoing record of quality publications or patents commensurate with the candidate's experience is preferred. Principle teaching assignments would be in our undergraduate entrepreneurship courses. While applicants with different backgrounds will be considered, the ability to teach marketing and/or economics-focused entrepreneurship courses may be considered a slight be a plus. Online teaching experience is also desired.
