The Department of Management at the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary's University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Entrepreneurship at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Management, starting July 1, 2018. The ideal candidate already holds a PhD, or is near completion, and can demonstrate potential for research, teaching excellence, and community engagement.
About the Position
Teaching and research interests of the successful candidate should be in entrepreneurship or related areas. Special consideration will be given to candidates with interests in co-operative, or collective, entrepreneurship emphasizing regional economic development.
We particularly encourage applicants whose teaching and research align with the Sobey School of Business mission: "The Sobey School of Business, through active learning and the creation and mobilization of scholarship, prepares citizens of the world to lead sustainable, entrepreneurial businesses and communities."
About Sobey School of Business
The Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary's University is a balanced teaching/research institution and it has the largest business program in the Atlantic Provinces. The Sobey School of Business consists of 75 full-time faculty and offers AACSB accredited degrees at the undergraduate, master and doctoral levels. The Sobey School of Business is also a PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) signatory.
The Management Department consists of 19 full-time faculty who deliver core courses to the undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department also delivers courses contributing to the majors in Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management/Industrial Relations and Management. The PhD in Management, the Master and Diploma in Management of Co-operatives and Credit Unions, and the certificate program in Human Resource Management are also associated with the Management Department.
Applications consisting of (i) a letter of application clearly indicating eligibility to work in Canada, (ii) an up-to-date curriculum vitae, (iii) a teaching dossier that includes a statement of teaching philosophy and evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g. teaching evaluations), (iv) future research plans, (v) an example of a recent working paper or publication, (vi) copy of graduate school transcripts, and (vii) names and contact information of three referees be emailed to mgmt.selection@smu.ca and specify Entrepreneurship Tenure Track as well as your area of expertise in the subject line. Consideration of applications will begin on October 29, 2017. Although all applications will be acknowledged, only those that make the shortlist will be contacted.
