    University of Richmond

    The Management Department of the Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond invites applications for an Instructor of Entrepreneurship & Innovation beginning in January 2018 or possibly August 2018. This position will support the proliferation of entrepreneurial activities on campus, including the opening of the iLab, a new space dedicated to entrepreneurship and innovation.

     

    A faculty member in this position is expected to make substantial contributions in teaching and service. Accordingly, this position's primary functions are: teachingundergraduate and MBA courses related to entrepreneurship & innovation, co-lead programs' development in the field, and provide service to the University and its students support in such areas as (a) mentoring student entrepreneurs as well as student-run campus organizations/clubs, (b) advising students in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship programs, (cfacilitating business pitch competitions and other activities, (dsupporting students in off-campus events, and (e) community engagement including off-campus service and speaking events.

     

    This is a non­tenure-track teaching position subject toannual renewal, based on performance. The teaching load is three courses per semester for a total of six courses per academic year. Preference will be given to applicants who are able to effectively teach a variety of relevant courses (e.g., entrepreneurship, innovation, entrepreneurial finance, entrepreneurial marketing, family business, social entrepreneurship).

    Applicants for this position should hold a master's degree with a concentration in entrepreneurship (or a closely related discipline) and substantial work experience at the founder/co-founder/senior managerial level, or a doctorate in entrepreneurship (or a closely related field such as Organizational Behavior, Human Resources, Management, or Strategy) with an appropriate publication record.

    The successful candidate will display the following characteristics:

     

    1. Demonstrated teaching excellence. The Instructor inEntrepreneurship & Innovation will possess teaching capabilities that are commensurate with the Robins School's national reputation for exceptional learning. The candidate selected to fill the position will teach undergraduate and possibly MBA courses in Entrepreneurship & Innovation. Generally, undergraduate classes are scheduled during the day, and MBA classes meet once a week, typically in the evenings.

     

    2. Strong record of service achievements evidenced by, for example, previous experience supporting an entrepreneurship center, advising and/or mentoring entrepreneurs, and building campus-community partnerships.
