    FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

    The Narendra Paul Loomba Department of Management in the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College, City University of New York, is seeking to fill the fully endowed Lawrence N. Field Family Chair in Entrepreneurship with an individual with substantial academic prominence in the field of entrepreneurship. Rank (Associate or Full Professor) will be awarded based on the candidate's qualifications.

    Through the continuing generosity of Lawrence N. Field ('52) and his family, Baruch College has developed unique and nationally ranked entrepreneurship programs (#7 undergraduate and #8 graduate, "Top Schools for Entrepreneurship 2017," Princeton Review) with the goal of becoming an internationally-acknowledged center of excellence in the field. The Zicklin School of Business offers both a BBA and MS in entrepreneurship as well as a PhD in management with an emphasis on entrepreneurship. In total more than 500 students on Baruch's campus are enrolled in entrepreneurship courses. The Lawrence N. Field Family Chair in Entrepreneurship will have an exceptional opportunity to play a major role in the continued development and growth of these and related programs. 

    The Chair holder will join eight existing faculty members in entrepreneurship, including two other chaired professors. Research faculty in entrepreneurship and management publish regularly in the leading journals in the field including Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, among other high-impact journals. The entrepreneurship faculty also include an editor for Entrepreneurship Research Journal and a Field Editor for Journal of Business Venturing.

    The Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship is housed in the Zicklin School of Business. The Field Center is an innovative model for entrepreneurship which brings together faculty and students from the Zicklin School of Business, Small Business Development Center advisors, Baruch College alumni and volunteer professionals to support the entrepreneurial endeavors of faculty and students as well as over 2,000 new and established New York City-based business each year. The Field Center has participated in Babson College's Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) project and is also home to the Entrepreneurship Research Society which is associated with the Entrepreneurship Research Journal.

    The Zicklin School of Business is the largest AACSB-accredited business school in the United States and offers an array of full-time, part-time, executive, and honors programs leading to BBA, MBA, MS, and PhD degrees. The Narendra Paul Loomba Department of Management offers areas of study in entrepreneurship, human resources/organizational behavior, operations management, strategic management, and business, society and sustainability. The Zicklin School of Business has seven departments including the Narendra Paul Loomba Department of Management, Stan Ross Department of Accounting, Paul H. Chook Department of Information Systems and Statistics, Bert W. Wasserman Department of Economic and Finance, Department of Law, Allen G. Aaronson Department of Marketing and International Business, and William Newman Department of Real Estate, which can facilitate extensive research collaborations across disciplines. Additionally, faculty from departments outside of Management are assigned to the Field Center for Entrepreneurship, bringing a unique blend of expertise to Center activities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in the field of entrepreneurship or a related discipline with scholarly achievements consistent with the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The candidate should also have proven leadership skills, the ability to teach effectively, and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Among the skills and knowledge most desirable are an understanding of the development and implementation of entrepreneurial processes and strategies, as well as pertinent issues of entrepreneurial and family firms, and/or social and intrapreneurial ventures.
