From 1970 to 2000, the modern field of entrepreneurship had been theoretically bereft.  The first important theoretical breakthrough in entrepreneurship is, arguably, Shane and Venkataraman (2000) paper-where opportunities are taken as the primary topic of the field and the discovery approach is proposed as the most important way of studying these phenomena.  Creation Theory (Alvarez and Barney, 2007) was originally positioned as a complement to Discovery Theory.  However, as the debates between discovery and creation have unfolded and creation has become more influential in the field of entrepreneurship it holds the potential for becoming an integrated approach to research and teaching in the field.  Simultaneously, other views that have surfaced as a result of this new theoretical research in entrepreneurship.  This symposium will showcase some of the latest thinking in entrepreneurship theory.
