2008 Entrepreneurship Division JUNIOR FACULTY CONSORTIUM, Aug 8 & 10, 2008
The Entrepreneurship Division will sponsor a Junior Faculty Consortium during the 2008 annual meetings of the Academy of Management in Anaheim, CA. This year's program is specifically aimed at the needs of new assistant professors.
On Friday, August 8th a panel of experts will provide practical advice about managing your career so that you can succeed in the classroom AND have time to do research. Topics will range from class management and grading to tips on how to do a new prep and managing difficult classroom situations. Faculty will then discuss the "Phases of an Assistant Professor's Academic Life" and the path toward tenure. Challenges and experiences you can expect to face in each phase as well as practical advice about determining when or whether to re-enter the job market will also be addressed. Friday's session will conclude with dinner. On Sunday, you will meet with editors from the leading journals in the field to gain insights about crafting scholarly articles and publishing in top scholarly journals.
The Consortium will begin at noon on Friday, August 8, 2007 at a to-be- determined location, and meet again for a two-hour session on morning of Sunday, August 10th at the conference hotel.
This year's consortium is chaired by Becky Reuber (U of Toronto) and Bill Schulze (U of Utah). The Consortium will be limited to 25 participants to allow lots of time for interaction. Qualified participants will be admitted on a first come basis.
To apply, please send the following two items as email attachments to Bill Schulze (William.Schulze@Utah.edu) or Becky Reuber (reuber@rotman.utoronto.ca).
