The Kauffman Foundation is pleased to announce the release of the Kauffman
Firm Survey, a panel study of 4,928 businesses founded in 2004 and tracked
over their early years of operation. The survey focuses on the nature of new
business formation activity; characteristics of the strategy, offerings, and
employment patterns of new businesses; the nature of the financial and
organizational arrangements of these businesses; and the characteristics of
their founders.
Currently, data from the baseline survey and the first follow-up survey are
available for analysis. The second follow-up data will be released in spring
2008. The businesses that remained active in the KFS sample will be
contacted again in 2008 during a third follow-up, with release of that data
planned for spring 2009. The public-use file of the KFS is available for
download at
www.kauffman.org/kfs.
