    Dear colleagues,

I am writing to invite you to participate in the following Showcase Symposium that Yuliya Snihur and I are organizing at the AoM:

    New Business Models and Cognition

Tuesday, Aug 8 2017 3:00PM - 4:30PM at Hyatt Regency Atlanta in Dunwoody

Business models are one of those valuable topics that enjoy a booming interest from both the scientific and managerial communities, helping bridge the gap between science and practice, rigor and relevance (Foss and Saebi, 2017; Massa, Tucci, and Afuah, 2017; Zott, Amit, and Massa, 2011).

This symposium explores one important interface that the business model research inherently opens up: namely, that between cognition and business model literatures. Our objectives are two-fold: First, we seek to increase the visibility and managerial relevance of cognition research by highlighting how cognition can contribute to better understanding and development of new business models, and thereby new business development, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Second, we would like to help integrate business model research within a broader literature by providing a forum for discussion for scholars interested in studying business models using a cognitive lens.

Please check http://my.aom.org/Program2017/SessionDetails.aspx?sid=12262 for further details.

The lead faculty involved in this symposium include:  Mary Tripsas (Boston College), Denis Grégoire (HEC Montreal), and Charles Baden-Fuller (Cass Business School).

We kick off with presentations of four papers on the interface of cognition and business models research to inspire the audience, and go on with a highly interactive discussion facilitated by the lead faculty.
