As Director of Undergraduate Entrepreneurship at Michigan State University, one of my chief duties is to manage MSU's academic programs around entrepreneurship and innovation for our undergraduate students.

I will be visiting Israel from July 20-29 to create collaborations between MSU and Israeli universities/companies in the area of entrepreneurship, innovation and Jewish studies.

I am grateful for any suggestions you may have of people I should meet, places I should go or events I should attend consistent with my objectives. My goals for the trip are to:

    ·         Identify opportunities for our students to study at Israeli universities through MSU's study abroad program. Topical areas include, but are not limited to:

    o   Entrepreneurship

    o   Innovation

    o   New product development

o   Venture capital and/or startup financing

o   Lean startup and/or business model development

    o   Market needs assessments

    o   Pitching

    o   Startup leadership

    o   Etc.

    ·         Identify extra curricular opportunities for our students, while they are in Israel, to participate in events that are part of the Israeli startup scene. These could include, but are not limited to:

    o   Visiting incubators

o   Attending or participating in pitch events

o   Participating in a hackathon or Startup Weekend

o   Going to local networking events

o   Doing projects or internships for Israeli startups

    o   Hearing speakers

o   Attending conferences focused on startups and/or technology innovation.

    ·         Identify and talk to Israeli academics who would be interested in teaching at MSU for a semester or two as a visiting scholar. Disciplines could include, but are not limited to:

    o   Entrepreneurship

    o   Innovation

    o   Engineering

    o   Venture capital

    o   Small businesses

    o   New product development

    o   Social entrepreneurship/social innovation

    o   Design thinking

    o   Media strategies for startups.

The types of people I would like to meet are:

    ·         Academics in the fields described earlier

    ·         Entrepreneurs

    ·         Venture capitalists or other investors.

I'm eager to get suggestions of startup events that I can participate in while I'm there, and I am appreciative of opportunities to visit or attend the following:

    ·         Incubators

    ·         Maker spaces

    ·         Meetups

    ·         Co-working spaces

    ·         Startup hubs.

Details about our program can be found at:  https://eship.msu.edu. My biography and LinkedIn profile can also be found on the website.

    Sincerely,
