    Sustainable Private Sector Development: Growing Inclusive Markets (GIM)

    ICSB 2008 Pre-Conference Forum, June 20 - 21

    <st1:placename w:st="on">Dalhousie</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype>, <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Halifax</st1:city>, <st1:state w:st="on">NS</st1:state></st1:place>

     

    Former Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin and Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations Development Program Dr. Bruce Jenks are the keynote speakers at the 2008 ICSB pre-conference forum Sustainable Private Sector Development: Growing Inclusive Markets (GIM 2008), presented by <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Dalhousie</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype></st1:place>. The Forum is sponsored by the United Nations Development Program, the International Development Research Centre and the Canadian International Development Agency.

     

    Taking place in <st1:city w:st="on">Halifax</st1:city>, <st1:state w:st="on">NS</st1:state>, June 20 and 21 immediately preceding the 2008 ICSB world conference, this forum offers attendees the unique opportunity to meet with academics and practitioners from Africa, Asia and <st1:place w:st="on">Latin America</st1:place> interested in small, medium and micro-enterprise research and practice. Plenary speakers include many leading actors in the world of private sector development and entrepreneurship.

     

    All ICSB participants are encouraged to submit papers, corresponding either to the sectoral themes (presented June 20) or the 'enabling conditions' roundtable discussions (on June 21), by April 1. See www.gim2008.ca/program/program.htm for program details. As time is limited, all paper presentations will be short, but accepted abstracts and papers will appear in conference proceedings.

     

    Delegates registered for the 2008 ICSB world conference can register for GIM 2008 at the special price of $300!

     

    GIM 2008 Scholarships Now Available

    Thanks to the generous funding of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), GIM 2008 is now offering up to 30 scholarships to participants from the Global South to present their work on private sector development. To be considered for sponsorship, submit your registration forms and abstracts as soon as possible.

    GIM 2008 is supported by the United Nations Development Program, the International Development Research Centre, and the Canadian International Development Agency.
