The Department of Management in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas seeks applications from interested candidates to fill a Clinical Assistant Professor position in management. This is a non-tenure track position that offers an opportunity to teach both traditional and on-line classes. We seek candidates with diverse skills and abilities who want to play a meaningful role in the life of the Walton College. This clinical professor position has a four-course teaching requirement each semester (12 credit hours per semester). The candidate selected will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in business strategy, with the opportunity to teach undergraduate courses in international management, business foundations, and other related courses. The expected start date for the position is August 2017; the appointment is renewable and salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be classified as Scholarly Academic or Practice Academic under AACSB standards. Candidates must have a doctorate in management or a related field from a nationally or internationally accredited university and a demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed management journals.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who have experience and/or an interest in teaching management classes using both face-to-face and online course delivery methods. Preference will also be given to candidates who have a PhD in Business Strategy or a related business discipline (e.g. Accounting or Finance) from an AACSB accredited school. We also prefer candidates who have demonstrated the ability to provide an excellent learning environment for their students and who value collegiality.
Our department prides itself on maintaining a collegial environment. Our tenure track and clinical faculty currently include: Vikas Anand, John Delery, Alan Ellstrand, Anna Goussevskaia, Nina Gupta, Jon Johnson, Jennifer Kish-Gephart, Anne O'Leary-Kelly, Carol Reeves, Chris Rosen, Lauren Simon, Denise Breaux Soignet, and Dan Worrell. One new tenure track faculty in Organizational Behavior and another in Entrepreneurship will be joining the department starting in Fall 2017. Our faculty have published in top journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Organization Science and Strategic Management Journal. In addition, our faculty have received best paper awards from journals and conferences, have obtained large research grants from public and corporate sponsors, serve on editorial boards of numerous top journals, and hold leadership positions in the Academy of Management. Our faculty have also won a number of teaching awards including four campus-wide awards. Faculty have also received state-wide recognition as well as SEC-level awards. The Sam M. Walton College of Business is one of the fastest growing colleges in the nation and has a current enrollment of 5800 students. The University of Arkansas had completed a fund raising campaign that raised over one billion dollars in private contributions, with the Walton College receiving two hundred and twenty million dollars in gifts and endowments. A new capital campaign is underway, with a number of transformational gift ideas in place that will benefit the Walton College. Funds from previous campaigns have been used to establish several scholarships, endowed professorships and chairs, summer research support, and to install state of the art classroom technology in the College.

Reynolds Center for Enterprise Development and the J.B. Hunt Transport Center for Academic Excellence, site of our state-of-the-art behavioral research lab. The 2016 U.S. News and World Report ranked the Walton College's undergraduate program 27th among all public universities, and our college is among the top 50 of all public and private undergraduate business schools in the US. We have a strong Full Time MBA program which has ranked among the 30 best programs in public universities in recent rankings of the US News and World Report. The College also offers a very strong Executive MBA program that attracts senior professionals from top American organizations.
We are located in Fayetteville, which offers an idyllic rural/urban mixed environment and is nestled in the beautiful Ozark Mountains. The area is part of the rapidly growing Northwest Arkansas Region with a population of about 500,000. U.S. News & World Report ranked Northwest Arkansas at No. 1 in its May 2016 ranking of the 20 Best Affordable Places to Live while Forbes listed the Northwest Arkansas area as 2nd on its list of Best Midsized Cities for Jobs in 2016. Several other recent rankings have identified the area as among the best places to live in the US. The Fayetteville region boasts an outstanding public school system, a low unemployment rate, and a low crime rate. Growth in the region has been propelled by the presence of large corporations such as Wal-Mart, J.B. Hunt, and Tyson Foods. In addition, the area has emerged as a major hub of Wal-Mart retail vendors, providing many job opportunities in the region. The Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport offers non-stop flights to 14 major US cities. The area features a variety of outdoor recreational activities with excellent hiking and canoeing opportunities. The area also features many cultural amenities including two symphony orchestras, an outstanding regional theater group, a comprehensive trail system, a botanical garden, and the world-class Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
