UNSW is poised to get hyper-active in the area of 'knowledge exchange'. As part of that, they are now recruiting for a Director Entrepreneurship to lead one of 4 divisions under the DVC(Enterprise), including merging the Student Entrepreneur Development and MCIC. Since some of you have experience with being directors of centres, divisions or larger academic units, and you likely know others who might have relevant experience, please share this.
From the position description (pdf):
The Division of Enterprise has the responsibility of "Delivering from Research Excellence" and "Knowledge Exchange for Social Progress on Economic Prosperity" as part of the University's 2025 Strategy.
The Division will double the University's knowledge exchange revenue in the next five years and, through broad partnership with research organisations, industry and government, help transform Australia's economic base.
The programs which will assist in delivering against these initiatives are listed in UNSW's Innovation Statement and comprise of five main areas: Attracting and Nurturing Skills, Embedding and Empowering an Innovation Culture, Creating and Growing Partnerships with Industry, and Building Infrastructure and Forging long-term partnerships for Innovation.
The Director Entrepreneurship will drive the entrepreneurship brand of the University by proactively seeking out, fostering and maintaining collaborative and commercial relationships to expand innovation and start-up networks, attract sponsorship and achieve key University goals. The Director will be a skilled leader in the Sydney start-up ecosystem, provide strategic advice and direction to the University and will provide strong leadership and support to staff to ensure that the Division is able to meet its ambitious 2025 goals.
This position reports to the Deputy Vice Chancellor Enterprise
Direct reports to this position are Director Start Programs, COO MCIC and Director Start Support
The role also has key relationships with Division of Enterprise leadership group including Executive Director Knowledge Exchange, Executive
