  • 1.  Experiential Simulations and Exercises

    Posted 04-20-2017 08:29
    Dear Colleagues,

Hope all is good with everyone. I am looking for (ideally freely available/accessible) experiential simulations and experiential exercises (not necessarily simulations) on three themes; namely, Entrepreneurship, Innovation Management and Change Management for my upcoming course starting in July.

It would be quite helpful if someone could guide/point/share material on the above ?
Any other creative ideas to engage the students in relation to the above three themes are also welcome.

    Looking forward.

    Kind Regards,

    Dr. Mohammad Saud Khan
Assistant Professor (Strategic Innovation and Entrepreneurship)

  • 4.  Experiential Simulations and Exercises

    Posted 05-09-2017 15:48

    Dear Dr. Khan

For more than 20 years, I have been developing entrepreneurship simulations. These simulations enable students to live the venture creation experience.

I have created entrepreneurial simulations that focus on business basics, strategy, marketing, supply chains, finance and accounting, and international business. The most popular one is Venture Strategy.

Recently, I joined forces with Dr. Raj Sisodia, and the Conscious Capitalism Foundation (https://www.consciouscapitalism.org)   to create a new simulation called Conscious Capitalism in the Marketplace. The simulation is designed to illustrate and reinforce the key tenants of the Conscious Capitalism movement within an entrepreneurial setting. Students have a variety of issues to deal with, including product sustainability and reliability, environmental concerns, and employee morale. They must learn to manage a full-enterprise, startup business while addressing the conscious opportunities, situations, and problems embedded throughout.

With most of these simulations, it is good to have students pitch their business opportunity to outside investors for expansion purposes at the midpoint of the exercise.

There is also a set of micro simulations that are only 15 to 20 minutes long and focus on the fundamentals of strategy, brand design, internet marketing, accounting, and resource management.

For a comprehensive pedagogy to develop entrepreneurial skills, see Ernest R. Cadotte (2014) "The Use of Simulations in Entrepreneurship Education:  Opportunities, Challenges and Outcomes," Annals of Entrepreneurship Education & Pedagogy.

You can learn about these simulations at marketplace-simulations.com
