ENT Professional Development Workshop
2008 Annual Meeting of the <st1:placetype w:st="on">Academy</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Management</st1:placename>, <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Anaheim</st1:city>, <st1:state w:st="on">California</st1:state></st1:place>,
Sunday, August 10, 2008, 11:30-1:30
Anaheim Marriott, 304A (please check the official program)
The focus of this session is to assist PhD students researching in social entrepreneurship by 1) having new graduates share recent research and job market experience, and 2) pairing senior researchers with PhD students to provide feedback on research projects with a social entrepreneurship focus. The intent is to provide rich insight into how to move from interest in the phenomenon to papers that journals will publish.
To this end, we have assembled a panel of scholars who have successfully found ways to address the context of social value, finding ways either to use existing theory, or to develop new theory that is broadly applicable. We will pair these successful scholars with PhD students who are attempting to find their way through the challenges of publishing social entrepreneurship research.
Participants will submit a summary of a paper or project to the organizers. The more specific the summary, the more likely researchers will be able to provide valuable feedback. Please make sure to include the theory you are using, and if applicable the context, sample, and method. These papers will be assigned a mentor from the panel of scholars. Mentors will receive papers from students prior to the workshop, allowing them to prepare comments and advice on each of the papers.
After a presentation by new graduates, panelists and students will sit down to discuss their projects, working to develop the ideas toward a publishable product.
Please register for the workshop and submit a 3-5 page summary of your paper or proposal (not including references) to stillema@uoregon.edu by July 11, 2008.
Space is limited, if you are interested, please register soon. The PDW is already over half full.
