The School of Business Administration at Portland State University seeks
exceptional candidates for TWO tenure track positions in strategic
management beginning Fall 2011. The ideal candidate should have (1) an
earned doctorate in business or related field with an emphasis in
strategic management (advanced ABD candidates will be considered) from
an AACSB-accredited institution; (2) evidence or promise of a strong and
innovative program of research in relevant areas of strategic
management; (3) demonstration of teaching excellence in strategic
management courses; and (4) a strong and continuing commitment to both
research and teaching.
Portland State’s School of Business is AACSB-accredited, has a strong
commitment to both research and teaching, serves over 3,400 students,
and grants more graduate degrees than any other university in Oregon.
The School maintains strategic initiatives in the areas of
entrepreneurship, food industry, health care industry, international and
sustainability. We offer a stimulating, collegial environment that
values a diversity of research approaches and topics, and supports
research efforts through the provision of graduate assistantships,
travel funds, summer support, and a teaching load conducive to effective
scholarship. The School of Business maintains strong ties with industry
partners, providing ample research opportunities. Management faculty
regularly publish in top-level journals including the Academy of
Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied
Psychology, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Management,
Journal of International Business Studies, Personnel Psychology,
Strategic Management Journal, Business Strategy & the Environment,
Organization & Environment, and California Management Review.
The University is dispersed over 49 acres of greenspace amidst the
cultural and business center of downtown Portland. Portland was ranked

Initial review of applications begins July 26, 2010. We will be holding
information interviews with candidates at the Academy of Management
meeting in Montreal this August. To be considered for one of these
discussion slots, please have your vita and letter of interest to us by
August 2, 2010. Complete application packets should be received no later
than September 1, 2010. The search will continue until the position is
filled.
