  • 1.  Entrepreneur profile survey

    Posted 05-09-2007 18:04
I have heard about many types of entrepreneurial surveys to be used to
help identifying entrepreneurs among students, employees or candidates
    for VC raising.

I've never heard, however, any tool 'trustful' for this purpose.

My two questions about this are:
    1) Is there a recommended survey or instrument generally accepted to
    measure entrepreneurship level?
    2) Considering the complexity of the combination of skills required for
a specific entrepreneurial situation, is it possible to determine that a
simple survey would be feasible to comply with such deterministic
    challenge?

In other words, is it possible to say 'You have entrepreneurial skills'
    to anyone?

    Best regards

    Marcos,
About what you are asking, there are tons of materials.

Several researchers had been trying to find "the" entrepreneur profile, the reality is that there is no "one" entrepreneur profile.

Some successful executives shares the same profile as successful entrepreneurs, some entrepreneurs have some traits that other ones do not have.

Let just take some characteristics of the entrepreneurs: creativity, internal locus of control, risk acceptance (or avoidance), and uncertainty.

For each one there are some (not yet standardized) instruments (between 20 and 40 questions); if you integrate such test in one, you could end with a 150 questions instrument, just for four characteristics.

There are some books that have some information regarding this topic such as: Entrepreneurial genius, from Gene N. Landrum, have some profiles, and they are not similar.

    Hope it can help you
