| Limited availability (20 volunteers), please RSVP ( elliot_bendoly@bus.emory.edu ), FCFS. <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Fisher</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">Park</st1:placetype></st1:place> is a 26 acre park in a densely populated residential area. The heirs of Joseph Wharton bequeathed this tract of forest land, which is bisected by a stream and bounded by Spenser, Fifth Streets and Champlost Avenues. Wharton's heirs only provision was that the property be maintained for public park purposes. The park is located at 5th & Spencer Streets. Activities will involve planting, pruning and weeding, litter control, trail building and upkeep and invasive plant removal. Dress for outdoor work & warm weather. Take precautions against the heat. Please RSVP to elliot_bendoly@bus.emory.edu by July to ensure a place on the clean-up team. Project Directions from SEPTA : BY SUBWAY Take the Orange Broad Street Line -local or express- subway NORTH to <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Fernrock</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">Transportation</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">Center</st1:placetype></st1:place>, which is the last stop. Volunteers can either take the 57 or the 70 bus to 7th and Godfrey, or walk from the train station to the park. It is about a 15-minute walk around, or a five minute bus ride, and then a five minute walk from the bus to the park. Be sure to request a stop for 7th St. There is no cut-through because of train tracks, so if you opt to walk, you will need to go north on 10th St., turn right on Godfrey, and turn right on 6th St. You will be able to see the park at the end of the street clearly from there.
