  • 1.  Education Programs to Educate Investors

    Posted 03-09-2017 04:45

    Dear all,

Do you know of any dedicated courses / trainings that aim at educating investors on the various aspects of startup investment? Some or all of the following aspects should be covered:

    Help them understand

    • Why they should / or shouldn't invest in startups (as compared to other forms of investments)
    • Budgeting (% of total assets to be used for startup investing)
    • Vehicles for investing
    • Exposure to trends and themes of the future
    • Dealflow management (how to build a deal flow, which networks to join, which online tools to use, how to analyse / track deals)
    • Due Diligence, terminologies, national vs. international investments, how to negotiate terms, etc
    • Legal aspects
    • Post-investment: tracking, follow-on funding, which role to play in the company / board, etc
    • Case studies, startups coming to pitch, visits to business angels and VCs
    • etc.
If you are aware of any program, that would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks and best regards,
    Peter

    Dear Peter,

I would recommend to check the program of the Angel Academy. I think this would be a great match to what you are looking for. They provide also tailor made solutions for institutions if there is a particular need.

You can refer to Jaap Dekter from Angel Academy for any info or questions:

    Peter –

Consider Nick Moran's podcast The Full Ratchet. Nick has a collection of 125 podcasts that covers a wide-range of angel/VC investment topics including many of the aspects that you listed in your email.
