    Associate Professor in Prototyping

    The Mads Clausen Institute at the University of Southern Denmark invites applications as Associate Professor in Prototyping.

    The starting date of the position is 01.04.2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.

    The position is located within the Section SDU Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation (TEI) on the campus in Sønderborg. SDU TEI is a cross-disciplinary section that unites engineering and business researchers in teaching and joint research projects. The section focuses specifically on a holistic approach to the innovation process, consisting of the stages ideation, product development, process/production development and commercialization. The group has an international and interdisciplinary focus, which is reflected by the group members themselves, as well as by the number of international students with a variety of different backgrounds.     The TEI section is seeking a highly motivated, outgoing person, who is able to work in an international, interdisciplinary team. The candidate must be a team player but also able to work independently.

    The successful candidate should have a background in engineering, and has interdisciplinary work experience across the innovation process, i.e. prototyping, manufacturing and commercialization.

    The successful candidate will play a major role in the Interreg project "Innovative Production Region (InProReg) – Cross-border Competitiveness in Manufacturing through Development and Application of Modern Production Technologies". The overall objective of the project is to maintain and further develop innovative and competitive manufacturing in the German-Danish cross-border region, especially in small and medium sized enterprises. This is achieved through enhancement of modern automated production systems and innovative approaches to product development.

    The research focus of this position is thus prototyping with a close link to development and application of modern production technologies.

    In addition, in order to meet the teaching requirement of the section, the candidate must have obtained a certificate for successful participation in a pedagogic training program.

    Responsibilities

    ·         Leading role in the project "InProReg" and in management of the project

    ·         Research and development management – taking a leading role in pursuing a research program at the forefront of prototyping and production technology

    ·         Publishing in high ranked peer-reviewed journals and conferences as well as
    engaging in other forms and levels of research dissemination

    ·         Teaching at bachelor and master levels of the Innovation and Business programmes

    ·         Initiating fund raising - and playing an active role in securing research funding to support
    the research activities of the section

    ·         Communicating cross different disciplines to the stakeholders from various research sections

    ·         Playing an active role in the development of new courses and degrees

    ·         Knowledge transfer to industry

    ·         Contributing to the administrative responsibilities of the group

    Application requirements

    Applicants for the Associate Professor position must have a PhD degree in engineering, and a convincing record of research, development and management. The candidate must have obtained a certificate for successful participation in a pedagogic training program or equivalent.
