    As of 1st August, 2017, or by arrangement, the Bern University of Applied Sciences is seeking to appoint a new faculty member:

     

    Full Professor for Digital Business/Business Intelligence (60-100%)

     

    The Bern University of Applied Sciences (BUAS), Switzerland, offers 30 Bachelor and 22 Master programs, applied research, services and a wide range of further education programs. Practically-oriented, interdisciplinary and internationally connected, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the BUAS provides customized services in education and training, applied research and development as well as knowledge transfer for private companies and public organizations. We aim to inspire personalities and we maintain a strong focus on responsibility and sustainability.

     

    Requirements

    We are seeking an individual with a doctoral degree or an equivalent track record and a completed course of study in the fields of Informatics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Business Informatics, or comparable. In addition, candidates are required to have expertise in (a) Digital Business (for instance, digitalization in business functions, logistics, marketing, production management, explorative data analysis, Big Data) and/or (b) Business Intelligence (for instance, information systems, database technologies, data warehousing, data analysis and visualization). Candidates should have international experience in applied research as well as practical applications in industry in one of the fields mentioned above. Passion for teaching and didactic competences in English and German as well as distinct interpersonal skills are required.

     

    Responsibilities

    The professor for Digital Business/Business Intelligence will be responsible for lectures about Digital Business/Business Intelligence and Business Administration on the Bachelor- and Masters levels as well as in further education. In addition, he/she has to acquire and execute practice-oriented research and development projects with partners in industry or other funding bodies. Finally, the professor for Digital Business/Business Intelligence should contribute to the strategic development of the teaching and research activities about Digitalization, Industry 4.0, and Business Ecosystems at the BUAS, in particular for the new study program in Industrial Engineering and Management Science.
