    Position Announcement: Clarence E. Harris Chair of Excellence in Business and Entrepreneurship

     

    Description

    The College of Business at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) invites applications and nominations for the endowed Clarence E. Harris Chair of Excellence in Business and Entrepreneurship beginning August 2017.  The College of Business has a successful entrepreneurship program that has been in place since 1998.  The selected candidate will help build on previous achievements by leading efforts to extend the program across campus and expand collaborations in entrepreneurship and innovation with the Chattanooga business and entrepreneurship communities.  The university intends to establish a center for innovation and entrepreneurship with the Clarence E. Harris Chair serving as executive director. Simultaneously, the successful candidate will serve as a tenured faculty member in the Marketing and Entrepreneurship Department in the College of Business.  As a faculty member the Clarence E. Harris Chair will teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

     

    The College of Business at UTC has a long-standing AACSB accreditation at the undergraduate and graduate levels with approximately 2,000 students and programs in accounting, data analytics, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, and management. UTC students benefit from engagement with the vibrant Chattanooga entrepreneurial ecosystem, and the Entrepreneurship program works closely with the Tennessee Small Business Development Center, the Hamilton County Business INCubator, the Company Lab, and the Edney Innovation Center in the Innovation District of downtown Chattanooga.

     

    Qualifications

    Qualified applicants must have a PhD in entrepreneurship or closely related area from an AACSB accredited school, and be a recognized scholar with a research record that would support the rank of associate or full professor with tenure at UTC. In addition, qualified applicants must have excellent teaching abilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels with demonstrated experience or ability to provide instruction in a variety of modalities including online. Previous experience developing and leading interdisciplinary strategic initiatives in innovation and entrepreneurship is preferred.

Chattanooga is also just a two hour (or less) drive from Atlanta, Nashville, Knoxville, and Birmingham.
