    Program Theme: The workplace in this changing economy is full of conflict. However, most managers are afraid of conflict. Even our society is afraid of conflict because we equate conflict with divisiveness. Instead of viewing conflict as a source of constructive ideas, many have sought to either avoid conflict or accommodate. In this conference, we hope to build upon last year's theme of collaboration to focus on the arts of conflict management. Please join us in sharing and debating approaches to conflict management, moving toward a more honest, cooperative and collaborative world.


    Doctoral students, full and part-time faculty and practitioners are encouraged to submit papers and proposals for workshops and symposia relevant to the conference theme in any  of the tracks.

    PAPER SUBMISSION TRACKS

    • Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) Accreditation
      Track Chair: Sarah Vaughan & Kathleen Barnes
      This track invites papers on aspects of AACSB accreditation including but not limited to assurance of learning, enhancing and measuring research impact.
    • Business Strategy
      Track Chair: Robert Yawson 
      This track welcomes theoretical and empirical papers that focus on addressing the wide range of management and organizational issues related to the formulation, implementation, and execution of business policy and strategy. Submissions can also address the innovation process, the management of information technology, and the cognitive and social impacts of information systems.
    • Entrepreneurship
      Track Chair: David Brannon 
      Topics for this track include but are not limited to new venture creation and failure, new and small firm management practices, new and small firm financing strategies, corporate venturing and innovation, and women-, minority-, and family-owned business.
    • Ethics, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
      Track Chair: Tejinder Billing 
      Papers are welcome which focus on topics that include but are not limited to: codes of conduct and labeling programs, supply chain management, outsourcing, issue management, reputation and brands, business and government relations, corporate governance, the provision of global public goods, international stakeholder management, and headquarter-subsidiary relationships.
    • Human Resources Management
      Track Chair: Joel Rudin 
      This track seeks papers covering all aspects of human resource management, including recruitment, selection, performance appraisal, compensation, strategic planning, socialization, training, gender, diversity and the development of human capital.
    • International Management
      Track Chair: Huy Tran 
      We invite submissions that address cross-cultural or cross-border issues in managing business. Topics include cross-border business operations, as well as social and cultural considerations in doing business in varied cultures.
    • Leadership
      Track Chair: Antigoni Papadimitriou 
      This track invites conceptual and empirical papers along with panels or symposia that address contemporary problems of leadership like shared leadership, team leadership, followership, leadership as process, leadership of self, leadership for the common good, and virtual leadership.
    • Management Education & Development
      Track Co-Chairs: Lisa Stickney  & C. Melissa Fender 
      We invite work addressing teaching and learning at the classroom, program, or institutional level; workplace and organizational learning; and innovation with technology in the classroom. Especially welcome are contributions that highlight the conference theme in the classroom setting and the implications of technology for our teaching practices.
    • Organizational Behavior & Theory
      Track Chair: Kimberly Merriman 
      We are interested in conceptual and empirical papers that study individuals and groups in organizations as well as the dynamics of organizations in terms of practice, growth, and change. Areas of interest include but are not limited to individual and group differences and effectiveness, perception, communication, motivation, team dynamics, conflict, negotiation, organizational design, and organizational change.
    • Works-in-Progress
      Track Chair: Devi Akella 
      Research in the early stages of development are welcome. Sessions will be structured as roundtable discussions to facilitate additional development and coaching. This is an excellent way for doctoral students to become involved in the EAM. These sessions will not appear in the proceedings.
    • Discussion Symposiums / PDWs
      Track Chair: Elizabeth McCrea 
      This new track welcomes entries that are either a proposal for a structured discussion on a topic of common interest, or for a workshop. Proposals should be aimed at helping fellow attendees by providing a forum through which they can engage each other. Examples include handling work-family conflict, issues around academic careers, dealing with difficult students, ethics of decisions in the research process, tradeoffs in research, or coping with institute limitations. Submissions should describe the activities, goals, and time/equipment required.

    EAM AFFILIATE ORGANIZATIONS

    The CASE Association (CASE) 
    Program Chair:  
    Mary K. Foster
    Join us for professional development workshops and high engagement sessions focusing on the development, publication, and use of teaching cases. We invite you to submit: a) embryo cases (one page outline/idea), b) cases without an instructor's manual, c) cases with an instructor's manual, d) compact cases (3-5 pages, plus instructor's manual), and e) professional development workshop proposals.

    Experiential Learning Association (ELA) 
    Co-Program Chairs: Vicki F. Taylor and Mary K. Foster
    We welcome new exercises or substantial modifications of existing exercises, including games, simulations, role plays, and other activities that facilitate learning in management. These are typically demonstrated during the ELA session. Three types of submissions are welcome: 1) Single Session Activities: An experiential learning activity that can be completed in 50 minutes or less, 2) Multi-session Activities: An experiential learning activity, which occurs over multiple sessions, from more than one 50-minute class to an entire semester, and 3) Professional Development Activities: An experiential learning activity for peers, which focuses on skills related to designing, delivering, evaluating, or publishing experiential learning activities.

    Academic Consortia 
    Held as pre-conference or concurrent activities – no additional fee; conference registration is required.

    Doctoral Consortium & Junior Faculty Consortium Chair 
    These consortia are designed to provide ideas, tools, and strategies to be successful by drawing upon the experiences of senior faculty colleagues.

    Mid-Career/Senior Faculty Consortium Chair 
    This consortium is designed to help faculty develop their own "six year plans" for the future.

    PAPER SUBMISSION INFORMATION 
    Submissions are due by Monday, January 23 2017  via EAM's website at EAOM.org .
    At least one author (for symposia, each panelist) must register and present their work at the conference. Authors are requested to assist in the review process. All accepted papers are eligible to appear in the online digital proceedings. Submission guidelines will be posted shortly at EAOM.org .
