    The Faculty of Management and Organisation of the University of Groningen
    (the Netherlands) is seeking an Assistant Professor Small Business and
    Entrepreneurship (full time). Applications received on or before 19 March

    As our department and its tasks are growing, we expect to start looking for

    Assistant Professor Small Business and Entrepreneurship

    The University of Groningen invites applications for an assistant professor
    position.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    The candidate possesses a Ph.D. in Small Business or Entrepreneurship,
    shows evidence of strong research productivity and involvement in an
    international research network, has a managerial perspective in teaching
    and research, as well as a demonstrated capability for effective
    undergraduate and graduate teaching. Willingness and capability to work at
    an interdisciplinary level is required. Preferably interested candidates
    have some years working experience in the small business sector and are
    willing to further develop a network of contacts with the small business
    community and relevant policy makers.

    The candidate has to contribute to various courses of the ‘Master of
    Science in Business Administration: Small Business and Entrepreneurship’
    and in particular to the courses ‘New Ventures and
    Entrepreneurship’, ‘Small Business Management’ and the further development
    of the Minor programme on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Moreover,
    the candidate has to conduct research in the field of Small Business and/or
    Entrepreneurship, supervise graduates (master theses) and PhD-students and
    contribute to managerial tasks.

    Candidates may be given the opportunity to opt for a tenure track position.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
    There is a strong preference to fulfil the position as a full-time, tenured
    position for five years. You are starting at the level of assistant
    professor 1 or 2 depending on job-responsibilities, qualifications and
    experience. According to university standards, the salary ranges will be
    between €3024,- and € 4705,- gross per month for a fulltime job (12
    monthly payments) and a yearly 8% holiday allowance. Non-Dutch applicants
    could be eligible for a favourable tax treatment (30% rule for some years).
    We offer attractive pension facilities.

    The Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen, the
    Netherlands, offers a position as

    Full professor of Entrepreneurship

    A distinctive characteristic of this chair will be its focus on
    entrepreneurship in relation to small business and innovation. This focus
    is in line with the profile of the existing MScBA Small Business &
    Entrepreneurship of the Faculty of Economics and Business, and corresponds
    with the composition of the business community in the Northern part of the
    Netherlands.
    Entrepreneurship deals with the recognition of and capitalization on
    opportunities. This process may take place in two different contexts: (1)
    starting a new company and, (2) acting innovatively in an existing company
    (corporate entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship). Small Business deals
    with the opportunities and problems of starting and existing small firms.
    Small and medium-sized firms are characterized by their small scale,
    independence and personal management style.
    The chair of Entrepreneurship and Small Business is situated within the
    Department of Innovation Management and Strategy of the Faculty of
    Economics and Business.

    Job description
    The professor will provide leadership in research and teaching in the field
    of Entrepreneurship, teach in the Master’s degree programs in Business and
    Economics, and conduct high-quality research.

    Job requirements
    The candidate:
    1. has a PhD degree and is renowned in the field of Entrepreneurship
    2. has a track record of outstanding academic research and teaching,
    and is internationally recognized as an authority in the field of
    Entrepreneurship, with publications in leading journals cited by prominent
    researchers
    3. is able to provide leadership, motivation and supervision to other
    staff members.
    4. is able to acquire external funding for additional research
    contracts and PhD students.
    5. is able to develop activities with the business community and
    participates actively in the Centre of Entrepreneurship Groningen(CeEG).

    Outstanding candidates who have an exceptional track record but who do not
    yet satisfy the aforementioned requirements for a full professor will be
    considered for a tenured appointment at associate or assistant professor
    level.
